What a REAL friend IS...

About the time that I turned 50, I had an epiphany about friendship. Well, I say friendship, but it was really about relationship. Let me explain...

I have a friend. My friend has been with me for many years. Been with me through numerous trials. Been there for me when my heart was breaking. She's been there with me when I needed counsel. This friend and I have a common thread, in that we both love the Lord and desire His will and purpose to come forth in our lives. This desire has woven us together so tightly, that I cannot fathom my life without her. She is the Proverbs 18:24 picture of the friend that sticks closer than a brother.

The desire of her heart mingles with mine. Her heart is selfless when it comes to me. And, she has no greater desire for me than to see me walk in the counsel of the wise and prosper in my relationship with God.
I truly feel the same way about her, just in case you were wondering.

We met on a hotel balcony in McAllen, Texas over 25 years ago.We had actually been acquaintances before that, but we MET, came together, became joined, bonded, communed, on that eventful day many years ago.
And, I fell head over heals in love with this beautiful soul. I admire her more than any woman that I know.

I have met a lot of people in my life who say that they love God, but few that exemplify God's heart for His creation like she does.
My friend is a beautiful portrait of God's grace, seasoned with His mercy, with heaping portions of His long suffering. She has more faith in her little pinkie than most preachers of the gospel that you will ever meet.

The reason???  Because she communes with God, and it is evident.  You can see His reflection on her face, in her words, and in her work.

In her love there is laughter, in her JOY and in her relationships, there is peace... Why? Because she knows the Father, and is known BY the Father.
That's what happens when you commune with the Father. You become intimate.
Luke 22vs19   And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake [it], and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do In Remembrance of Me-vs 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup [is] the new testament [covenant] in my blood, which is shed for you
There you have it...[the bread and the wine] represent the attestation
of the NEW Testament covenant.  The once and for ALL sacrifice-
His body, His blood the REAL [bread and wine].

Communion, as most Christians think of communion is -getting things right with the Father- by remembering the sacrifice of Christ before partaking of the Eucharist (if you are catholic) or The Lord's Supper (if you are protestant). Right?

Communion-1. an exchange of thoughts, emotions, etc 2. possession or sharing in common; participation 3. strong emotional or spiritual feelings for): 4. the spiritual union held by Christians to exist between individual Christians and Christ, their Church, or their fellow Christians.

What is it that we actually commune over?

Well, I offer you a little more depth and insight into what real communion is, as I learned it through my relationship with my 'friend' on a balcony more than 25 years ago.

As I said before, my 'friend' and I had been acquaintances until the night that we spent together on the balcony. After that, after we communed, sharing our hearts and desires, and getting to know each other intimately,  we became friends.

I find that a lot of people professing to be Christian only know ABOUT Christ, but are not KNOWN by Him.

Have you ever noticed in the Bible that when Adam had relations with his wife Eve, that the scripture says this-
Gen 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD;
Have you? I mean, here it is referring to the 'act' of 'coming together' in a sexual union that resulted in a consummation in which Eve conceived and reproduced! It is that intimate relationship with the Savior where WE remember HIS sacrifice and allow Him to reproduce His [resurrection] LIFE in us.

And, that IS what communion is supposed to be!

It is intimate. It is allowing the Spirit of God to search your heart, to pluck up the weeds in your 'garden' so that you may become MORE fruitful and REPRODUCE what God has already given to you, supernatural resurrection LIFE.
That is, laying bare to the Eyes of God and allowing Him to prune you, even preen you!
When we finally get to the place of understanding that 'He did it ALL, ONCE and for ALL', our prayers change. I happen to think that  that is a GOOD thing!
No, more need to beg and plead. It was ALL nailed to the cross WITH HIM, back them. Just take up THAT cross [or situation] that you find yourself in, feeling guilt or shame, acknowledge it before God, then LEAVE IT AT THE FOOT OF THE CROSS! The forgiveness has already been granted. OWN IT!

Romans 8vs1 says - There is now, no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk by the Spirit, and not by the flesh. [walking by the Spirit is a faith walk]

You begin walking by the Spirit of God when you begin to pay attention to that 'still small voice that leads you gently toward righteousness'.

Once you begin to agree with His will for you, you begin to walk out from under the condemnation of the THE LAW with the punishment of death attached to it, and into experiencing the GRACE of God, which IS resurrection LIFE, and is the supernatural Life of Christ being formed in you [in the new covenant] through that surrender.

I hope that this was helpful and insightful and paves the way for a deeper understanding into what communion really is. For more information on this subject, check out His blog in- The Bible.
