Many people wonder why their prayers aren't answered. I have even wondered this myself at times. The truth is God does answer our prayers, only sometimes the answer is "No." Why? You ask. The Word of God says "seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and ALL THINGS will be added unto you." When you are seeking the Kingdom of God, you recognize His ownership over you. And, seeking His righteousness, is you agreeing with Him that His ways are higher than your ways. He sees the BIG picture in eternity, while we usually only see the temporal nature of life. Our prayers need to focus on Him, His eternal presence in our lives and His plan and purpose for us. I heard a man say one time that, "God doesn't care where you work." He was saying this in reference to a man who was without a job & seeking employment. I disagree. As a parent, I do care where my children work. And, I do care that they are God's representative wherever they are. Be it work, home or the grocery store. We are to be His witnesses in the earth. So, I heartily disagree with the before mentioned man. God, is God the Father. Which of you, being a parent sanction your child working in a strip joint. The very nature of the business brings all kinds of pictures to my mind. Including lust, pornography, organized crime, etc.
God the Father is personal. He cares about a tiny sparrow falling to the ground. Why would he not be concerned with where I work.
I have had some REALLY trying days when it comes to where I work. I have even questioned, "I know that I prayed for this job, Father. Are you sure that I heard you right?" But, I have also prayed in the midst of storms related to my work, and heard the word "humility" from the throne room. How do I know that I heard correctly? Here's how. My thoughts were amongst other things, confused, chaotic & without peace before submitting the problem to the Lord for His direction. I began to seek His Kingdom & His righteousness, because I was utterly unable to gain comfort on my own. "He is our comforter". We don't usually even call out to God, unless we are in some kind of pickle! But, when we do acknowledge His charge over us, and begin to seek His Kingdom and His righteousness, conviction comes into our hearts and we begin to agree with Him, and His ways, instead of trying to gain comfort on our own which is fleeting.
Once, I submitted myself to His will, the "humility" that I heard became a part of my own heart's desire! The Word of God says in
2Chron 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Psa 37 Delight thyself in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart |
This truly is the way to have your prayers answered affirmatively. So, if you are like most of us who don't like to be told "No", pray in the way that the scriptures tell us to pray.
Matt 6:9 Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come Thy will be done in earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And, forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the Glory Forever Amen.
That does not mean to pray this prayer word for word, It means to pray LIKE this! Let me explain. I am acknowledging YOU God as creator and YOU as HOLY. I want YOU to rule and reign in my heart, so I submit to YOUR will instead of mine. I acknowledge that I need YOU to spiritually feed me, guide me because YOU as my Father care for me. You have forgiven me of all offences and expect me to do the same when I am offended in someone else. You do not lead me into temptation, but when I am tempted you deliver me from temptation when I surrender to YOU, because You are ALL powerful, Glorious and You never change.
So, if you want to make sure your prayers are heard, Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord.
